Psalm 1

Ps. 1:1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

Ps. 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

Ps. 1:3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

Ps. 1:4 Not so with the wicked!
Instead they are like which the wind blows away.
Ps. 1:5 Therefore the wicked will not stand at the judgment,

Nor can sinners in the assembly of the righteous

Ps. 1:6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 2

2:1 Why do the nations rage
And the peoples devise empty schemes?

2:2 The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers (peoples) take counsel together
Against the LORD (YHWH) and against his Anointed One.

2:3 They say, “Let us break their shackles
and cast from us their ropes!”

2:4 He who sits (enthroned) in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.

2:5 Then he will speak to them in his anger
and in his fury he will terrify them.

2:6 He says, “I myself have consecrated my king
upon Zion, my holy mountain.

2:7 The King of Israel says,
“I will surely tell the decree of the LORD (YHWH).
He said to me: You are My Son! I myself, today, have fathered you.”

2:8 Ask from me and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.

2:9 You shall break them with a rod of iron
You shall shatter them as a clay vessel of a potter

2:10 So now you kings, understand
Be warned, you rulers of the earth.

2:11 Serve the LORD in fear!
Cry out (repent) in terror!

2:12 Show respect, lest he (LORD) gets angry and you perish in your way (behavior)
Because his anger may quickly ignite.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 3

There is no deliverance for him in God.

My glory and the One who lifts my head

3:4 I cried out with my voice unto the LORD
And he answered me from his holy hill
Selah—

3:5 I lied down and slept:
I awoke, for the LORD sustains me

3:6 I am not afraid of multitudes of people who all around have set themselves against me

3:7 Rise up, LORD!
Deliver me, my God!
Indeed, you will strike all my enemies on the jaw;
you will break the teeth of the wicked.

3:8 Salvation belongs to the LORD, Upon your people, your blessing.
Selah

and search for what is deceptive? Selah.

the godly to himself;
The LORD hears when I call unto him.

Psalm 5

For the director of music. With flutes.
A psalm of David.

5:1 Give ear to my words LORD,
Consider my groaning.
5:2 Pay attention to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
For to you I pray.

5:3 LORD, in the morning, you will hear my voice;
In the morning, I will lay out my requests to you
and expectantly watch for an answer.
5:4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;
No evil (people) dwells with you.
5:5 The arrogant cannot stand before your eyes;
You hate all who do evil.
5:6 You destroy those who speak falsehood
The LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and deceit.
5:7 But as for me by your abundant lovingkindness
I will enter your house;
I will bow down toward your holy temple
in fear of you.
5:8 LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my watching enemies;
Make straight your way before me.
5:9 For there is nothing reliable in what he says,
Their inward part is destruction
Their throat is an open grave
They flatter with their tongues
5:10 Hold them guilty, O God;
Let them fall by their own devices!
In a multitude of their transgressions,
drive them out,
For they have rebelled against you.
5:11 Let all who take refuge in you be glad,
Let them continually sing for joy;
Spread your protection over them,
And those who love your name will rejoice in you.
5:12 For it is you who bless the righteous,
You surround him with favor as a shield.

Psalm 6

For the director of music; with stringed instruments;
according to the sheminith (style); a Psalm of David.

:1 LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger,
Do not discipline in your wrath.
:2 Have mercy on me, LORD
For I am frail;
Heal me LORD,
For my bones are shaking.
:3 My very being is deeply troubled,
But You, Lord—how long?
:4 Turn Lord,
Deliver my entire being
Save me because of your faithfulness
:5 For there is no memory of you in the realm of
the dead,
In Sheol, who praises you?
:6 I am worn out with groaning:
All the night, I drench my bed with tears
With my tears, I flood my couch.
:7 My eye(s) grow dim from grief,
weak from all my enemies.
:8 Turn away from me all you who do evil,
For the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
:9 The LORD has heard my plea for mercy,
The LORD accepts my prayer.
:10 All my enemies will be humiliated and greatly
dismayed;
They shall turn back,
They shall be suddenly humiliated.

Psalm 7

Superscription: A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.

:1 O LORD my God, in You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me,
and deliver me,

:2 Or they will tear my entire person apart like a lion,
Dragging me away like prey
and there is no one to rescue me.

:3 O LORD my God, if I have done this,
If there is injustice in my hands,

:4 If I have repaid the one at peace with me evil,
and withdrew from my enemies without cause,

:5 Let the enemy pursue my entire being
and overtake me,
And let him trample my life down to the ground,
And let my glory lay in the dust. Selah

:6 Stand up, O LORD, in Your anger;
Rise up with raging fury against my enemies!
Get up for me, execute judgment.

:7 And the assembly of the peoples surrounds you.
And over them return on high.

:8 The LORD judges the peoples;
Vindicate me, O LORD,
according to my righteousness
and my integrity, O Most High.

:9 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
But establish the righteous,
Righteous God, examine the hearts and minds of the righteous.

:10 My shield is the Most High God,
Who saves the upright in heart.

:11 God is a righteous judge;
And a God who has indignation all day.

:12 If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword;
He will bend and string his bow.

:13 He has also prepared his deadly weapons;
He gets ready his flaming arrows.

:14 See the one who is pregnant with evil,
who conceives trouble
and gives birth to harmful lies.

:15 He has dug a pit and excavated it,
And has fallen into the hole which he made.

:16 His mischief will return upon his own head,
And on top of his head violence comes down.

:17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of the
LORD Most High.

Psalm 8

For the director of music. According to gittith.
A psalm of David.

8:1 O LORD (YHWH) our Lord (adon)
How majestic is your name in all the earth,

You who reveal your splendor upon the heavens!

8:2 From the mouths of children and nursing babies
you have established a stronghold because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

8:3 When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have
established;

8:4 What is man that you take thought of him
And the son of man that you should pay attention to him?

8:5 and make him a little less than God
and crowned him with glory and majesty!

8:6 You make him to rule over the works of your hands;
you have put everything under his feet:

8:7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the beasts of the field,

8:8 the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
and whatever passes through the paths (currents)
of the seas.

8:9 O LORD (YHWH) our Lord (adon)
How majestic is your name in all the earth

Psalm 9

For the director of music. To [the tune of] muth label
A Psalm of David.

9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will recount all your wonders.

9:2 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

9:3 When my enemies turn back,
They stumble and perish before you.

9:4 For you have defended my just cause,
You have sat on the throne judging righteously.

9:5 You have rebuked the nations (peoples)
You have destroyed the wicked
You have wiped out their name forever and ever.

9:6 The enemy has come to an end to permanent ruins,
And You have uprooted the cities;
The memory of them has perished.

9:7 But the LORD sits (rules) forever;
He has established his throne for justice.

9:8 He judges the inhabited world in righteousness
He governs the peoples with equity (justice).

9:9 The LORD is a stronghold (refuge) for the oppressed
A stronghold in times of need.

9:10 And those who know your name trust in you.
For you, LORD do not forsake those who seek you.

9:11 Sing praises to the LORD who sits enthroned in Zion;
Proclaim among the peoples (nations) his deeds.

9:12 For he who avenges blood(shed) remembers them;
He does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

9:13 Be gracious to me, O LORD;
See my affliction from those who hate me!
You who lift me up from the gates of death,

9:14 that I may declare your praises (mighty acts)
in the gates of the daughter of Zion.
I will rejoice in your deliverance.

9:15 The nations have sunk down in the pit which they have made;
In the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.

9:16 The LORD has made Himself known;
He has executed judgment.
In the work of his own hands the wicked is snared.
Higgaion.     Selah

9:17 The wicked will turn to Sheol,
Even all the nations who forget God.

9:18 For the needy are not permanently forgotten,
Nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever.

9:19 Arise, O LORD, do not let man prevail;
Let the nations be judged before you (in your presence).

9:20 Terrify them, LORD;
Let the nations know they are but men.
Selah

Psalm 10

:1 Why LORD, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide in times of trouble?

:2 In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted. They (the afflicted) are caught in the trap which they (the wicked) devise.

:3 For the wicked boasts over the cravings of his deepest self (desires),
And the violent robber curses and spurns the LORD.

:4 The wicked in the arrogance of (shown in) his face does not seek Him.
All his thoughts are, “There is no God.”

:5 His ways prosper at all times.
Your judgments are on high, out from him (his sight).
He puffs (disdains) at all his adversaries.

:6 He says to himself, “I will not be shaken from one
generation to another generation because there is no adversity for me.

:7 His mouth is filled with curses and deceit and oppression;
Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.

:8 He sits in ambush places of the villages;
In hidden places, he murders the innocent;
His eyes hide for the innocent.

:9 He lies in ambush like a lion in a thicket;
He lies to seize the afflicted
He seizes the afflicted when he draws him into his trap.

:10 He crushes, he beats down
And the helpless fall by his mighty claws.

:11 He says in his heart, “God forgets,
He has hidden his face, He will not see.”

:12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up Your hand.
Do not forget the afflicted.

:13 Why has the wicked spurned God?
He (the wicked) says in his heart, “You will not seek an accounting.”

:14 For You have seen trouble and suffering.
You look to take it in your hand [to take care of it].
The helpless victim commits himself to you;
You are the helper of the fatherless.

:15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man!
Seek an accounting of his wickedness which he
thought you would not find.

:16 The LORD is king forever and ever;
Nations have perished from His hand.

:17 You have heard the desire of the oppressed, O LORD;
You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear,

:18 To judge [defend] on behalf of the orphan and the oppressed,
So that man who is of the earth [earthlings] will no longer terrify them.

Psalm 11

11:0 For the director of music; by David.
11:1 In the LORD, I take refuge.
How can you say to me, “Flee to a mountain like a bird. 11:2 For look, the wicked are bending their bow,
They load their arrow upon the string
to shoot in the darkness the upright of heart.
11:3 If the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”
11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple;
the LORD’s throne is in heaven;
his eyes observe, his pupils test
the sons of man.
11:5 The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked,
and he who loves violence, his living being hates.
11:6 Upon the wicked, he will rain snares;
Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.
11:7 For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness;
The upright will see his face.

Psalm 12

12:0 For the director of music: according to the sheminith (style); a psalm of David.

12:1 Help LORD, for the godly have gone;
For the faithful have disappeared from the sons of man.
12:2 People speak lies to one another
they flatter with their lips with double talk.
12:3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,
the tongue boasting great things;
12:4 those who have said, “With our tongues, we will prevail; we speak want we want; who is master over us ?”
12:5 “Because of the devastation of [done to] the oppressed, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now I will arise,” says the LORD.
“I will put him in safety, for which he longs.”
12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words;
as silver tried in a furnace on the ground, refined seven times.
12:7 You, LORD will keep them;
you will protect him [each one] from this generation forever,
12:8 for the wicked walk about everywhere
as vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Psalm 13

Ps. 13:0 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

Ps. 13:1 How long, LORD, will you forget me
How long will You hide Your face from me?
Ps. 13:2 How long shall I take counsel within my self,
with sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy exalt over me?
Ps. 13:3 Consider and answer me, LORD, my God
Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
Ps. 13:4 lest my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my adversaries rejoice when I am shaken.
Ps. 13:5 But I have trusted in your lovingkindness,
my heart rejoices in your deliverance.
Ps. 13:6 I will sing to the LORD
because he has been good to me.

Psalm 14

14:0 For the choir director, by David.

14:1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
They corrupt things, they commit abominable deeds;
There is not one who does good.
14:2 The LORD from heaven looks down upon the sons of man [human race]
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
14:3 They have all turned away, together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one.
14:4 Don’t all these evildoers know anything,
those who devour my people like they eat bread,
those who do not call upon the LORD?
14:5 There they are in great fear,
For God is with the righteous generation.
14:6 You would shame the plans of the afflicted,
though the LORD is his refuge.
14:7 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!
when the LORD restores the fortunes of his people
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Psalm 15

15:0 A Psalm Of David

15:1 LORD, who may abide in your tent?
Who may dwell on your holy hill?
15:2 The one whose walk is blameless and does what is righteous, and speaks truth in his heart.
15:3 He does not slander with his tongue.
He does not do evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against a friend
15:4 In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
but honors those who fear the LORD;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;
15:5 He does not put out his money at interest,
nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.

Psalm 16

16:0 A Miktam of David
16:1 Keep me safe, O God
For I take refuge in you.
16:2 I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord (adon);
I have no good beyond you.”
16:3 As for the holy ones who are in the land
They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.
16:4 Those who run after other gods,
their troubles will multiply.
I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood,
And I will not take their names upon my lips.
16:5 LORD, you are the portion of my inheritance
and my cup;
You support my lot.
16:6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my inheritance is beautiful to me.
16:7 I will praise the LORD who has counseled me;
Indeed, during the night, my kidneys [innermost parts] instruct me.
16:8 I continually set the LORD before me;
because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
16:9 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
Indeed, my flesh dwells securely.
16:10 For You will not abandon my being [life] to Sheol
Nor will you allow your faithful one to see the pit.
16:11 You make known to me the path of life;
The fullness of joy is in your presence.
Pleasures are in your right hand continually.

Psalm 110

A Psalm of David

:1 An utterance of the LORD to my Lord:
“Sit on my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”
:2 The LORD extends your mighty scepter from Zion.
Rule in the midst of you enemies.
:3 Your people will willingly follow you in the day of your power;
In holy array, from the womb of the dawn,
the dew of your youth belongs to you.
:4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind,
You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
:5 The Lord is at your right hand,
He will smite through kings in the day of His wrath.
:6 He will judge against the nations,
He fills them with corpses,
He will smite through the head men over a large land
:7 From the stream by the road, he drinks:
Therefore, he will lift up his head.
